Corey Perry broke franchise record

I’ve been doing a lot today with the design of the blog. The new top banner contains the actual title of this page while it still takes less space than the old one. Hopefully you’ll like the “read more” buttons too. Personally, I’m not a big fan of having to scroll through whole posts when looking for something previously written. Well, onto hockey now…

…Right winger Corey Perry broke a ten year old franchise record last night. He had one assist in the loss against Phoenix, and now he holds a point in 18 consecutive games. The previous point streak record was at 17 consecutive games and was held by veteran Teemu Selanne, a record which the “Finnish Flash” achieved in 1999. Congratulations to Corey Perry!

Not much else going on. Kyle Calder is expected to miss a couple of weeks with an eye injury. 21-year old left winger Matt Beleskey was recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Last night he made his fourth appearance with the Ducks this season. He’s spent most of the time in the AHL, where he has 7 points (2+5) in a total of 15 games this season. He’s spent three games with the Marlies since starting the year playing 12 games with the San Antonio Rampage.
