While beating a team like the Calgary flames is impressive, this team has still a long way to go before reaching top potential. The win over Carolina was important and the Ducks played a pretty good hockey game. However, the Hurricanes are dead last in the Eastern Conference, tomorrow night’s game against Chicago will be something else.
Anaheim are still giving up way to many turnovers. And against a team like the Blackhawks, that is likely to cost the Ducks a lot of goals. The Blackhawks managed to win over the San Jose Sharks last night. And not only did they win, they embarrassed them, winning the game 7-2. The Chicago Blackhawks has Marian Hossa back from injury, which certainly isn't any great news for Anaheim.
The Ducks certainly has been prone to turnovers in the defensive zone this season. That has got to change if this team is going anywhere near the playoffs. Most Ducks fans seem to agree on getting rid of Steve Eminger and/or Sheldon Brookbank. I wouldn’t mind letting Brett Festerling or Brian Salcido get a look with the team. I have no doubt they would do just as fine as the earlier two mentioned.

I'm expecting Carlyle will keep Arthyukin on that 2nd line. He's offensively creative but will turn into a penalty magnet when forced into a defensive role.
ReplyDeleteThere should be no lack of motivation. End of November, Ducks are already fighting not to lose playoff-chances.
