Ducks add Kyle Chipchura to bottom six

The 23 year old center Kyle Chipchura was acquired by Anaheim this morning in a trade that will send a fourth round pick in 2011 to Montreal. He was a first round pick in 2004 but isn’t as promising as he was a few years ago. But still, he’s likely to be in this league for a long time in a more defensive role. Ok pick up in my opinion considering the Ducks didn't have to give up that much.

Bad news is, Chipchura has no points this season in 19 games with Montreal, not to mention is he –10 this season. However, worst-case scenario is that he’ll be assigned to the AHL when Ryan Carter, Kyle Calder and Joffrey Lupul are back. Obviously, the Ducks lack an AHL affiliate this season, but some team should be interested. But let's hope a change of scenery is what he needed so he can stay in the NHL. And until Carter, Calder and Lupul are back, I expect he’ll have MacGregor Sharp’s spot in the line up, or maybe even Evgeny Artyukhin’s.
