Huge night for Getzlaf and the other Ducks Olympians

Things didn’t look too great for Ryan Getzlaf just a couple of days ago. I’m obviously talking about his ankle sprain. Fortunately, he will be able to participate in the Olympics since returning to the ice against the Edmonton Oilers in a 7-3 victory last night. Team Canada’s GM Steve Yzerman won’t have to worry now, as Getzlaf proved to be in good shape scoring 4 points (2+2).

The Ducks will have as many as nine players in the Olympics, and almost every single one of them notched at least a point in the very important win over the Oilers.

Ryan Getzlaf (Canada) had as mentioned 2 goals and 2 assists.

Corey Perry (Canada) had one goal and one assist.

Scott Niedermayer (Canada) had one goal and one assist.

Bobby Ryan (USA) also had one goal and one assist.

Ryan Whitney (USA) put up one assist.

Saku Koivu (Finland) scored one goal.

Teemu Selanne (Finland) picked up a couple of assists.

You could pretty much say that each Ducks Olympian picked up at least one point. The only Ducks Olympians who didn’t were Jonas Hiller, who’s obviously a goaltender, and Luca Sbisa, the young defenseman who isn’t even playing with the Ducks at this point as he’s in juniors. Both will represent Switzerland in the tournament.

  1. Wow, didn't even realize that all the Ducks Olympians got on the scoresheet. Nice way to head to the Vancouver!

Oh, almost forgot. Keep up the good work here, Andy. Always check this blog on Ducks gamedays.

Hope we could get a Finland - Sweden final again this year? :D

  2. Thanks for the kind words, Doothpick :)

I'm starting to get more time and motivation now as well. So hopefully I can make more traditional posts again.

If Sweden can't win, it would be nice to see Teemu and Saku win it that's for sure :)
