Now it's finally confirmed that Mattias Modig is heading to Brynas next season. Modig has signed a one year contract with Brynas for the 2010/2011 season.

General manager Micke Sundlov keeps building his team, and has now signed a new goaltender for next season. The Lulea goaltender Mattias Modig (6'1/179lbs) has agreed to a one year contract with Brynas for the 2010/2011 season.

"It feels very exciting coming to Brynas, they seem like a good organization with a good team", Mattias Modig said.

"I've also met the goalie coach "Pecka" Alcen, who seems to be a really good guy."

"We lose Eddie Lack and likely Jacob Markstrom to the NHL", Brynas General Manger Micke Sundlov said.

"Due to that reason it feels great that we already have signed a replacement. Mattias has during many years proofed that he can play at this level, and he does it really well."

Mattias Modig, born 1987 in Lulea, is an allround goaltender who is fast down low along the ice. He has appeared in 126 SEL games with Lulea and has played three games for the national team. Brynas goalie coach Per-Erik Alcen has had his eyes on Mattias Modig for a long time, and he has liked what he's seen.

"Mattias has done a very good impression, it's exciting that he's coming to Brynas", Alcen said.

Mattias is a modern Swedish butterfly goaltender combined with some old school style. He is good educated, but still has much potential to develop further, and should be a good replacement in the Brynas net.

"It's a big and calm norrlander with a good head who is coming to us. Furthermore, he has always been good when he's played against us" Per-Erik Alcen said.
