The Ducks got rid of center Andrew Ebbett early in the season by placing him on waivers. The Chicago Blackhawks claimed him but his stint there looks to become short. Today Bob MacKenzie on TSN, reported that the Blackhawks has put the 26 year old back on waivers. Ebbett played two games with the Ducks this season and has scored 1 goal in 10 games with Chicago. Last season, Ebbett contributed with 8 goals and 24 assists for a total of 32 points in 48 games with the Ducks.
Bob MacKenzie also reports that Boston placed center Trent Whitfield on waivers and that the Vancouver Canucks did the same with left winger Matt Pettinger. The last mentioned was a player I wanted the Ducks to sign in the summer. Now he doesn’t fit in quite the same with Artyukhin on the team, but I still wouldn’t mind Bob Murray to claim him off waivers. He could be a small upgrade to the 3rd line, not only bringing a physical game, but he has proven he can put up decent numbers at the NHL level. In 2005/2006 he scored 20 goals and had 18 assists in 71 games and in 2006/2007 he put up 16 goals and 16 assists in 64 games, both seasons with the Washington Capitals. This season Pettinger has 1 goal and 1 assist in 6 games with the Canucks.
