Ducks sign Matt Clark

The Anaheim Ducks and 19-year old defenseman Matt Clark has agreed on a three year, entry level, contract. It's a two way deal and he will have a cap hit of $750,000 if he plays in the NHL.

Matt Clark was a 2nd round pick (#37 overall) by the Ducks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. In 66 games with Brampton Battalion of the OHL this season, Clark has collected 23 points (7+16) along with 88 penalty minutes. He has developed into a primary shut down defensemen in the league this season and has 6 points (2+4) in 6 games during the playoffs.

Matt Clark also appeared in a preseason game with the Ducks back in September, without getting a point. He's set to become a restricted free agent in 2013.

And yes, I will go back to the more detailed game day info.

Modig hasn't heard from Anaheim yet

The Ducks goaltender prospect Mattias Modig is going to Brynas in the SEL according to Newspaper Norrbottens-Kuriren. As I'm from northern Sweden, I know this paper very well and I assure you it's legit.

However, I found the story from Expressen, here it is:

(press read more to see the whole story):

Translation:
Jacob Markstrom leaves for the NHL. But Brynas is getting Mattias Modig from Lulea, according to Norrbottens-Kuriren. In addition, Modig will be replaced by David Rautio from Oskarshamn.

Nick Boynton traded...

...to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations. And I was actually awake for once. Not a surprise he is gone at all, but there has obviously been question marks if he had any value at all since he wasn't picked off waivers earlier.

It's getting closer

So I was up until 2 AM here in Sweden despite having school today. And of course, the Ducks made a deal after that so I'm late out to report it. Evgeny Artyukhin to Atlanta in exchange for defenseman Nathan Oystrick and a 2011 conditional draft pick. I'm really surprised Oystrick has yet to play in the NHL this season, and apparently, he's not in the Ducks plans this year. A good depth player, but already 27 years of age. That's high for a prospect.

Trade deadline coming up

A long break here. The plan was to give reports on our Ducks Olympians during the break but I felt I had to take some time off. Anyways, the Ducks came home with as many as seven medals from the tournament. The only two who didn't get a medal was Luca Sbisa and Jonas Hiller on the Swiss team. Sbisa looked really impressive throughout the whole tournament and I don't see how he wouldn't be ready for the NHL next season.
